Zach Roerig has been a busy guy! Interviews with Zach are popping up everywhere, and you’ll notice we aren’t complaining! Watch out for spoilers, though, it’s a jungle out there today.
Our first interview comes from The Hollywood Reporter, and we really love the quote in the headline. This interview includes an answer to a question a lot of us wonder every week: why in the world do people stay in this crazy, dangerous town? Zach offers a thoughtful answer on his character’s behalf.
THR: What are Matt’s motives for sticking around?
Roerig: At this point, Matt really has nothing to lose. Yea, he can leave town, he can go somewhere else, but Mystic Falls is the only home he’s ever known. Matt’s the only person left in town who is pure in every sense of the word. I think he wants to make sure Mystic Falls doesn’t self-destruct.
Pure awesome, says Team Matt! CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE INTERVIEW HERE AT THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Hollywood Life had some different questions for Zach, including one about the friendship between Matt and Tyler.
So what about Matt and Tyler? Any chance their friendship will ever get back to what it once was?
“This is a very difficult time for Matt and Tyler. They’re always going to be friends, but Matt’s just now getting a handle on what he’s surrounded by. First Matt had to understand that Tyler was a werewolf, and how a hybrid. Matt’s always going to be understanding of Tyler’s problems, but I don’t think he’s going to trust him again.”
The last interview (at least for right now!) comes from The Vampire Diaries officialAlloy Entertainment site. They interviewed the actor about tonight’s episode,Dangerous Liaisons, (EP314). We’re all pretty psyched to see everyone dressed to the nines, and Zach seems to think pretty well of the costumes himself.
TVD: Everyone looks amazing! What was it like shooting such a fancy episode –was there a different vibe on set?
Zach: Oh yea definitely! We were all carrying ourselves a bit differently – very, not stiff, but we all had a very good posture about us, everything seemed to flow. When we were walking it’s sort of a like [starts singing] “bada pom pom / bada pom pom.” [Laughs] We all took ballroom dancing lessons before we shot the episode so that was a blast. And, yea, there’s something about being in a fitted tux – it just kind of grabs you and transforms you.
