“Nobody’s going to hurt…especially not my brother,”Damon tells Elena in the extended preview forepisode 3.06 of The Vampire Diaries. Elena though doesn’t seem entirely convinced that Stefan will keep a respectable distance from her neck–which is fair considering he failed so miserably the last time he was near her. Thus, she’s recruited Alaric to teach her how to defend herself.

So Elena finally got herself one of those slayer training dummies (like the ones that Buffy used to hurl stakes at in her Magic Shop training room)? Neat! On a serious note though, it’s good to see Elena trying to stand up for herself and not relying on others to protect her. It takes guts to rise against a vicious vampire but we wouldn’t expect any less from Miss Gilbert!
